Animated gif for the starting screen?

Can MaLa use an animated gif for the starting screen. I've tried and the gif animation works in the layout editor, but in Mala it doesn't (only the first frame is visible).

Not sure about using it for the starting screen, but animated .gif in Mala won't work with Windows 7 if you happen to be using that OS.

Microsoft decided they didn't want to pay licensing fees to have windows picture viewer animate a .gif anymore.
You'll notice in Windows 7, you have to open the .gif with Internet Explorer to get it to animate.

There are supposedly drivers out there that will add the feature back to windows, but I couldn't get any them to work and one I tried turned out to be a virus.

Using XP SP3. Anyway, for viewing pics I have ACDSee.
