Trouble Understanding the I-PAC 2
« on: June 01, 2013, 05:12:16 pm »
Hello All

Noob here, wiring up an I-PAC 2 to do some testing. I am having some issues understanding how it functions...I see that all of the buttons are wired to ground, without any voltage source being applied. How does the I-PAC know when a button is pressed? I understand that we are closing the circuit, but I am not understanding where the external voltage source is located to create a voltage drop. Are the inputs active low? Or am I just being a serious fool and missing something obvous?

Voltage source is supplied through the interface connection (usb/ps2).

Remember, there are no stupid questions  :)

Ah OK, so the input pins on the I-PAC are constantly supplied voltage from the USB bus and pressing the button closes the circuit activating the pin? I think I'm getting it, Thank you!

No problem.

And just to clarify(and I may have just read the original post wrong) but make sure you just put the grounds, player 1 and player 2 respectively, on the ground pins. You want the "hot" connections going to the labelled pins.
