Competition Rules:

- Use any car or transmission option available in the game.

- Fastest total time wins.  Winner picks the next game and track.

- No savestates, savestate practices, etc. during the round.

- A screenshot or photo of your time displayed on the game screen is required to
enter.  Video is great and would help others learn, but it isn't required.

- Everyone is encouraged to post their times even if faster times have already
been submitted.  It's fun to compete with people of the same skill level even if a
master of driving has already submitted an untouchable time.

- Please make sure your times are from games that take place during the
competition period (no posting your best time from last year, etc.).

- Use of scripts or other non-standard hacks are not allowed.
No program or other person or entity of any sort may manipulate your
controls during your game.  Coaching & back-seat driving is fine as long as the
party doesn't directly influence the game or controls.

- If you can beat any of the times from the previous competitions, you can submit
your time in the LEADERBOARD thread stickied at the top of this forum.

- Have fun!

BYOAC Racing Competition #5 will be Daytona USA Deluxe '93 - Advanced Course (Dinosaur Canyon)
Competition ends at midnight Pacific Standard Time, Sunday June 23rd.

emulator - SEGA Model 2 Emulator by ElSemi (either v.9 or v1.0)
rom - dayton93 - Daytona USA Deluxe '93
settings - default with the exception of country=USA

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

vtivti requested Daytona 93.  I debated about just sticking with the regular Daytona.  I also only have the regular Daytona listed on my front-end.  Part of the purpose of these competitions though is to get people to spend time playing games (or versions of games) that they haven't bothered with much before.  vtivti says he requested '93 because it includes fixes for bugs that are present in the original.
Bug fixes good.  ;D
If I pick up on the differences, I may end up using this version in my front-end instead.

There isn't a whole lot of noticeable difference between 93 and the original... it's more like a special edition than anything else.  So 93 is the version you should probably be running in the first place.  ;)

This game is hard with button shifters.

Use of the H2Seq utility is permitted.
http://www.racermame.altervista.org/download.htm

I don't feel it provides an unfair advantage in games where there was no clutch pedal.
It just allows you to work the 4 speed with paddles or a sequential shifter.
The same functionality is built into the Supermodel emulator for Model 3 games.

Man, I didn't do a single run at this one.   :-[
(busy with projects and playing other games)

Winner is MartinJames with a time of 3:06:96.

Since he won the last competition, SegaOutrun gets to pick the next track.
I'm trying to think of a game that is doable with one arm(no shifting), but aren't coming up with anything.
Anyone have ideas?

my hand is getting alot better. I played a little today so shifters shouldnt be an problem. Selecting the next game on the other hand seems hard. Im not sure what other people have and like to play.

Going of the list in the leaderboard list, i think Indy 500 Bayside would be fun. Off the list, I would interested in super gt 24h short course.

I didnt because I cant finish the track.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

What's it going to be?

I'd lean toward Super GT 24hr short course since Bayside is the hard course in Indy 500.

Next competition will be Super GT 24h - Short Course
(Model 2 emulator)

I'll get the competition thread posted tonight.

IMO, this is one of the more under-appreciated games on Model 2.
