Star Force board weird problem
« on: May 16, 2013, 01:01:15 am »
Hi everybody.  I have a problem with my star force board. The past week the game was fine, but suddenly the backgrounds are gone.  I research a lot for the schematics for this board but without results.

Anybody have the files or know about this board?

The pics show my problem.

Regards

I'm not familiar with the game or where a manual exists but have you tried reseating and socketed chips on the board.

especially any video rom chips.
pull the chips and maybe even clean the pins and put 'em back in.

this is assuming it has socketed chips. some later boards do not.

There also may be some test menus through the boards setup menu

Hi mgb.  The rom test on the init of the board show all OK.  I ask in a UK forum about the manual, and says unfortunately don't exist in internet to the moment.

I will try pull away the socketed chips  and expect some change in the background.

Yes, definitely give it a shot.
Just make sure the board is all off and disconnected when you do it.

You may have a bad rom chip or something but many times just reseating the chips will fix these issues.

If you're able to actually clean the legs on the chips, that would be best but be careful, they damage easily.

I just saw a star force board on eBay and it appears there are 2 boards to it.
The smaller rear board appears to have the socketed roms on it.
Just make sure that the chips go back into the same spot they come out of and in the same orientation.
