Zippyy Joystick assistance
« on: May 05, 2013, 02:55:51 pm »
Hi All,

Looking at building a bar top and I have received Zippyy joystick in the post. So I am all set to go. Can anyone give me some advice on how they mount their joysticks into the control panel. I thought I could screw off the red ball top but that doesn't seem to be working. Any help??

Thanks,
Michael.

I assume its a wood control panel.
Hopefully you bought the long shaft models.
If so, you can drill a 1" hole for the shaft to go through the middle and then use carriage bolts through to nuts to mount it.
If you get carriage bolts with raised letters, you can easily sand them smooth.

Or if you got short shaft sticks, you can too mount them by cutting out a square for the stick body to fit in and route out the edges to catch the mounting holes.
This way works if you're gonna put graphics and plexi over the panel

Hold the joystick shaft with some pliers and unscrew the ball top. Just mounted my zippys in yesterday.

You might want to protect the shaft with some material while holding it with the pliers

The ball holds really well in your hand if you have a slotted screwdriver below to hold the shaft still.  I tighten mine about as tight as they can go without putting pliers on the top part of the stick.
