Games that save progress?

ive searched countless hours on the web and even tried searching here, but perhaps my google-fu is too weak and im using the wrong keywords..

What Arcade games saved your progress with the use of initials and password, or pincode...
looking for games like Gauntlet Legends, Dark Legacy, NBA Jam, and Need for Speed Underground

I've heard of some dispensing cards like Initial-D and Maximum Tune, but i have no interest in those..

Any help would be appreciated...
