Newer Games for MAME
« on: April 25, 2013, 03:39:41 pm »
  Another newbie question, but when I think of arcade games I think of Pacman and Donkey Kong... If I do a MAME machine and have the track ball will I be able to do say, Golden Tee and Silver Strike ?

Get MAMEinfo.dat, History.dat,  and one of the GUI builds for MAME (like MAMEUIFX) and you can easily search titles and see the latest status.

The entry for Shuuz:

- TRIVIA -

Released in October 1990.

Attempt to break into the 'bar' market.

- UPDATES -

REVISION 1 :
* Software version : 7.1.
* Build date : Fri Oct 12 15 :35 :31 1990

REVISION 2 :
* Software version : 8.0.
* Build date : Fri Nov 2 12 :03 :22 1990

- TIPS AND TRICKS -

* Hint : Tempo plays a big part in the throw, forward motion should match backwards motion in speed or you'll go over the stake.

* A Tip : You can actually control the path of the horseshoe 'in the air' roll the trackball left or right to 'nudge' the flight path.

* A Trick : If you just hit the control key without setting your name after getting a high score, some of the default names you'll get are 'rat', 'dog', 'pig', 'rad'.

MAMEINFO:

0.35b13 [Aaron Giles]

WIP:
- 0.146: hap fixed atarivc_eof tag and shortened playfield_upper(15 chars) tag to playfield_up. This fixed missing/corrupted graphics in Shuuz.
- 0.139u1: Aaron Giles changed atarigen_state to be a base class from which all the related Atari drivers derive their state from.
- 0.135u4: Some more Atari driver shuffling [Aaron Giles]: Added atarigen_init() function which allocates all timers and registers for save states. Updated all drivers to call it. Converted some drivers to use device timers.
- 0.135u3: Aaron Giles converted atari drivers over to using driver_data for the most part. Some shared systems still exist with globals, but this tackles the atarigen module and the variables local to each driver.
- 0.114u4: Fixed rom names.
- 0.114u2: Aaron Giles and Couriersud added more accurate video timing to most of the Atari 68000-era games. The parameters are from published specs, not derived. The board uses a VAD chip to generate video signals. Changed VSync to 59.922743 Hz.
- 0.114: Couriersud added general save state support to the atarigen module.
- 9th November 2002: Aaron Giles fixed the sprite/background priorities in Relief Pitcher and Shuuz.
- 17th November 2000: Aaron Giles fixed graphics priority problems in Shuuz.
- 0.36RC1: Changed 68000 CPU1 clock speed to 7159090 Hz and OKI6295 to 6779 Hz.
- 0.36b1: Removed AY-8910 sound.
- 0.35b13: Aaron Giles added Shuuz (version 8.0) (Atari 1990) and clone (version 7.1).
- 10th May 1999: Aaron Giles sent in a nice Atari update with two new drivers: Rampart and Shuuz

Golden Tee circa 1989-2000 yes.

Golden Tee Fore! no, too new.
Silver Strike no, too new

World Class Bowling is playable in MAME and pretty good.

Thanks, I Googled to find a bowling game and the Silver Strike arcade came up, I've never played it.  I was just looking for a newer bowler if I did do a track ball.. I just didn't know how new was too new for MAME. I know Golden Tee has been around for years, but even with that didn't know if it made the cut, time-wise..
