Need help with cd-100a
« on: April 23, 2013, 09:17:42 pm »
Hi,  I got out of the business rite when the cdm 12 players came out for these around 2001 so I have worked on them but some things are hard to remember.

Ok with that I picked up a cd100a juke complete for free from a vending guy going out of business it hasn't been used in a while.  It powers up has all the lights on the power supply, a 4.1 updated ccc, cd pro player and a mars bill changer.  It looks like they removed the computer for the bill changer and spliced in the 2 wires from the mars 2000 bill changer to the coin slot and plugged it into the 120v service receptacle of  power supply

But I got it to the point where the carousel will turn pick up a cd to initialize, spin it, then I can see the optical turn on move up and down then it picks it up puts it back.  Then I try to play it and it says that cd is not allowed on the display.  I have no errors and rowelink lights are blinking like normal.  Any ideas??  When the 12's first came out I remember replacing alot of them because of warranty issues.  Could this be a problem with the cd pro??

Also is there a good place to buy used parts for it online other than ebay??  I need a display motor and possibly a button ckt board.

try and initialize a fresh clean disk and see if it works then.

Place the service switch into service, SERVICE MODE should be displayed on the keyboard display.
Type in 31 and the display will show PROGRAM INIT enter the CD number that you want to try (like 01) and then press the popular button.

flick the service button back, the player will load and read the disk... after it puts it back try and play a track off that disk. if it doesn't work still you may have an issue with the laser. if it does you might have an issue with your disks or a dirty laser...or possibly corrupted programming.

if initializing the single disk works initializes them all (type in 30 and press popular it will say full initialize) flick the switch and let it run...gonna take a while.

every once and a while i have MP3 coversion kits that eliminate the need for cd players entirely. I don't have any right now, but that is an option. - see cdadapter.com for info on the kits.
