Launch screen during boot before your front end loads??

I can't remember which forum I was on but some guy did a pretty cool Tron launch screen and I believe the purpose was to hide the fact his system was booting up and launching his front end.  Does anyone know how that can be done or which thread that is?   Searching for keyword Tron here is like yelling girl at a geek convention....

That sounds like the exact opposite of yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater.
