Did you try pushing player 1 and player 2 start buttons at the same time?  According to the website it uses an I-PAC for the interface.

I just ordered a SlikStik Classic, and have a question.  For those of you that own this, how do you ?Escape? from a game.  I noticed that there are buttons for P1/P2 coin-up, and buttons for P1/P2 starts, and a dedicated button for ?P? (pause), but no dedicated button mapped to ?Esc? to get out of the game.

How are YOU doing it?  the only thing I can think of is re-mapping the "Pause" button on the upper left to be the "Esc" key.

Wondering,
Fat Johnny

I don't own one, but try pressing 1P Start followed by 2P Start.  This is the Standard I-PAC shift function programming.  Otherwise, you could run the WinIpac software and see if any Shifted keys are mapped to Escape, or set your own key combo.

Wow, for over 400 bucks you'd think he could throw some instructions in.

By default your player one button should be the shift button. You could map esc by shifting the pause button if you wanted. Popping in a dedicated esc button wouldn't be hard either. I'm sure SlikStick would've done that for you for an additional $50... bleh.

I can talk you through the process if you'd like.
If you build a frankenpanel, chances are I don't care for you as a person.

There are instructions with it.  On my slikstik you hold player 1 and hit the black button.  If you just hit the  black button it will pause the game.

Sorry guys, when I wrote "I just ordered a SlikStik Classic...." I meant that I just ORDERED it, I havent actually received it yet.

I was just wondering what key was the shift key, and what other key you were using for the ESC.

I guess the concensus is that P1 is the shift key, and the balck corner pause key is escape (when "shifted").

Thanks guys,
FJ

If you go to http://retroblast.com/files.html you can take a look at the User Manual that comes with it.  It will show you the layout, what all the buttons do, and how to set it all up.

Johnny,

On the default programming configuration which you will be receiving, by hitting P1 start and the Black pause button to the left of it will give you the ESC function.

I-Pacs come with a standard ESC config which is P1 & P2 start together, but there have been occurrences of customers who have been in a 2 player heated match and the players have depressed the P1 & P2 start at the same time, ultimately resulting in escaping the game. That is the main reason we have changed that function.

Brax,

   You
Thank You

Thanks Christian?..it has got me thinking.  I might change this for ease of use.  I might map the black key (unshifted) to ESCAPE, and then map it when ?shifted? to PAUSE.  Here is my logic:  I have a lot of parties, and a lot of people will be playing the cab, and switching back-and-forth between a lot of different games (meaning, using the ESC key a lot).  I don?t want to have to explain to them the method of shifting or pressing two keys to exit out of a game.  Since ESC will be used far more than PAUSE, ESC should be the default button press for the black button.  If I ever need to use PAUSE, I will know how, and wont need to confuse anyone else  :)
Personally, I like a dedicated button for Pause, so I don't have to remember a shift combination in the middle of a game.  As Brax said, it would be easy to wire another button up.  But it's your panel, in the end.

So how much hell will I catch when I tell you that I bought the SlikStik Arcade Cabinet as well?? <snip> Not cheap, but efficient.
Probably a lot of hell, although personally, I think the cabinet is a better deal than their control panels, FWIW.

Does anyone have a ?I (heart) SlikStik? bumpersticker? ;D
