Payphone Conversion for Home Gameroom
« on: April 06, 2013, 03:09:52 pm »
Hello,

I am new to the site.

I have a non-Western type Payphone (with coin return on the right) new in the box and I want to use it as a regular home phone in my game room.  I do not need the coin system to work (although it would be nice if the coin would go in and drop directly in the coin box, but not necessary).

It has a smart board and I see some components on the board that read intellicall.  I have the supplied EMI Line Filter and the 24 Vac Power XFormer (came with the phone).  The box is labelled "System One Telcom, Inc. and paperwork reading "3000 Series Phones".

There is a toggle switch and a nine hole connector into the board.

Two lines exit the rear of the phone, one is the typical phone line and the second has white red and black wires with the red and white having connector ends attached.

The telephone wire inside the phone goes into shrink wrap and wires exiting the shrink wrap go into the nine hole connector.

I tried to attach photos but they were too large.

I hope this modification can be done without the smartboard or reprogramming.

I have seen some of Ken Layton's posts on this subject, however, I am not sure what steps to take to make this modification.

Any assistance provided would be greatly appreciated!   Thank you.   Jim

Thank you.

I visited the links, although informative, they did not provide specifics.

I have added some photos of the phone internals.

Is a "dumb board" required for this phone to work as a home phone?  I'm not sure what a dumb board is, although I would guess it replaces the smart board and the coin mechanism would not work.
