Layout disappears and secondary snap displaying *SOLVED*
« on: April 03, 2013, 06:44:27 am »
Firstly thanks to all the long time contributors on here...Daoldman, Lechuck, Badmouth, TopJimmyCooks and a few others I have probably missed. Certainly has made my life easier during the build.

After installing MALA and getting the auto screen rotation going I have encountered a couple of problems.

1. When I start a vertical game and MALA switches (via startcom plugin) from horizontal to vertical the mame layout image disappears. I just have a grey background. If I then start another vertical game and exit the layout image will be there. It seems to be intermittent and has occurred when switching to other other emulators. I am running 1.74. I have played around with some settings and removed the plugin as well with no success.

2. After I have played a game on N64, SNES and then play a vertical game in Mame and exit I get the snap of the last played game on N64 etc displaying behind the Mame snap.

Also did a fresh install of MALA and mame and no luck.

Any help welsome.

Thanks

Is this similar to my problem with the disappearing images? I posted on the main forum as this one doesn't get much reading as far as I can see.

Anyway, config issues aside, I fixed my graphical problems by replacing png files with jpeg. Mala can't draw png properly I've found. You also need to disable transparency option in the layout editor.

Thanks Chucklepie.

I do recall having read that some time ago when browsing, but from memory I thought it was a problem with reading JPG. My bad. I shall give it a go as I have my layouts and PNG.

I have solved the secondary snap being displayed (more a workaround). For my console layouts I was displaying the title and snap. I had the titles mapped through the 'Marquee' object in MALA. I remapped to one of the definables and no longer have the problem.

Changing the layouts from PNG to JPG solved the disappearing layout problem.

Thanks Chucklepie. :applaud:
