Coin Door Lock Diameter
« on: April 02, 2013, 05:44:08 am »
Been a troll on this forum for a while, and finally got my 1st cab to make a Mama/Multi out of.  It's a 1982 Robotoron 2084.  It has a Coin Mech Inc. coin door with mech still intact and working!  It also has the smaller door below the coin door I guess where you put a bin of some sort to catch the coins when they drop out of the coin mech.

The problem I have is I'm trying to find a lock for it.  I bought a 5/8" at Lowes, but the diameter is too big to fit in the hole in the door.  It seems these doors had a slightly smaller diameter lock hole.  I saw another post on here where someone had the same problem and someone had answered that it must be a tight fit or the lock hole is bent.  It's neither.  It's not bent and  I'd most definitely do damage if I tried to cram it in there.  The smaller door below is the same way.

Anyone know if there was other sizes used?  I'd love to find some to put on here.

I recently replaced the lock on my coin door (lost the key to the old one).  I had problems getting the lock to fit, but in my case the diameter was fine, but the flatted sides wouldn't fit in.  I spent half an hour with a file and got it to fit.  It is possible that when I re-painted the door, the hole got a little smaller, but the old lock fit fine.

Good luck!

I was hoping to find some without modifying the door or the lock.  Thanks for the answer though!
