iPad interface like inside the 8-bitty or iCade wanted

Does any of you found a way to DIY built an arcade interface to work with the iPad? I read somewhere that the ThinkGeek project was open source, but I only found the software part, not the hardware used. Preferably Bluetooth as it allows to work with all models and Android as well.

The Apple SDK is in the wild.  It would come with all the information you need to do this.  I am not aware of anyone doing a home build of this but I would scour Google.  I bet someone out there has done it.
