mala and a touscreen?
« on: March 21, 2013, 05:36:51 pm »
hey guys,

anyone know of touscreen friendly mala layouts?

I was thinking, scroll bar and arrows to move thru the game list with a "launch" button to start the game.  would also be great to have the letters of the alphabet along the bottom to easily jump to that part of the list.

if nothing like that exists, anybody willing to create it with the mala sdk?  I got $50 to anyone that wants to tackle it.

Is that even possible?  Seems like something like that would require some fundamental changes to the way mala operates.  I mean, we can't even get game lists to scroll left to right rather than the stock up and down.  I love MALA but there are some limitations unfortunately.

I think it would be easier to make one of the jukebox FEs made for touchscreen launch MAME than it would be to make MALA touch.

Edit:  Got this off the wiki:  http://home.online.no/~llindga/
Might be a good place to start.

check out touchbuddy.  It can post key presses when parts of the screen you designate are pressed without taking focus away.
Not sure if it can run with a transparent background overtop of Mala, but it's worth trying.

Since you're looking for premade layouts, I'm guessing it's more than you want to get into.
