ArcadeVGA-Arcade Monitor-multiple emulators
« on: March 18, 2013, 02:29:10 pm »
Not sure where to post this so I appoligize if it should have when in monitor area.

I am setting up a computer with an ArcadeVGA on a normal PC monitor.  Eventually I will ship it to a friend who will plug it into a cabinet with an 15 khz Arcade Monitor(That I built for him years ago before I moved).  I am wondering what I need to do with the ArcadeVGA card before I ship it to make sure it doesn't do anything bad to his arcade monitor.  I also was wondering what precautions I should be taking in Mala/layouts/Mame to make sure everything displays right when he plugs it in.  What resolutions should mala layouts be in? Or does it matter if I make sure thay are not fixed and aspect ration is correct?  Should I make sure all emulators(like nostalgia/fceux/zsnes/etc) are displaying in a low enough res?  Should I be turning hardware stretch and all that stuff off in Mame?  As of now I have it working perfectly on a PC monitor.  Should I dummy the PC monitor down to a low resolution to make sure it works on it?   Just want to make sure I am doing all the right things before I ship it to a friend with very little computer knowledge/skills.

Thanks for any help

Set all layouts to 640x480 max.  The emulators should be at their native resolutions.  Depending on what MAME he's using (I'm assuming regular MAME, not GroovyMAME), turn off hardware stretch and turn on DirectDraw video mode, with switchres on.  You should turn off the resolutions that the PC monitor supports before shipping it out to him.  Frankly, I don't see how you could possibly get it right using only a PC monitor.

Yea thats what I am worried about.  I am going to ship it to him and its going to be a mess.  I guess I can only do what I can.  It is time he learns a little himself  Thanks for the response.
