Starting the Computer
« on: November 07, 2003, 06:11:41 pm »
I'm building a mame cabinet and I've run into a bit of a problem.  How can you start the computer without pushing the start button?  so that when you plug it in, it all starts up automatically?  Shorting the start button doesn't work, it turns the computer off a few seconds after it starts.

I could just stick another button to the arcade machine somewhere, but I'd rather a one switch for all kind of deal.

Has anyone got a solution to this?

Check you Bios.  Some motherboards have options to automatically turn on with power source, others can be turned on by moving the mouse or pushing a designated "hot key".

If you are running XP just tick the option to start up using keyboard, then ypu will power up whenever you hit any of your CP buttons or move a joystick.
