button is unresponsive :(

I have a vertical mounted switches happs concave button and it isn't as responsive as the others.

upon tapping it, it'll click sucessively 90 percent of the time only.

This would be fine if I didn't play fighting game where every hit can count.

Does it need some WD40, Lithium Grease or something?

The cherry switch seems to be fine, it just seems like it doesn't push in smoothly everytime.

If I didn't buy this stick from MAS, I would have mounted vertical switches, but so the story goes.

From what I hear   Vertical microswitch buttons, dont work good..  Espectially with button mashing.

The button's actuator is known for commonly slippping/sliding over the microswitch trigger.  Thus resulting in an actuation failure!

You may improvement if you get the horizontal button.

My buddy has  a bunch of these. He did verify this is an issues  so try and stear clear of these if you can.   Or reuse them for less used buttons such ash START or COIN or to POWER ON your PC etc...

Take the button apart and look at the actuator see if you can bend it a little so that it makes better contact with the microswitch.

If you really want to fix it, replace it....

This is a known problem with the vertical buttons.

Another possible fix (Besides getting new horizontals) is to try rotating the whole button 90 degress in its hole.  I have noticed that they are more likely to have problems when the two tabs are in line with the way you are hitting the button.

I put verticals on my first panel. Bad.

Do your buttons move freely? Mine tend to get stuck, so putting some oil on them helps them move easier.

It could be the plunger having too much of a gap between the switch. Repositioning the microswitch to be closer to the plunger would fix that.

I made that mistake too. I bought a set and after two days of half ass button response I threw them all in the trash and got horizontals. Lesson learned. I have no idea why they even make the pieces of crap.

Are your button soldered now? Often arcade operators would solder the buttons because it was cheaper than quick disconnects that could fall off. They don't need to be soldered. If yours are soldered now you could just snip them and crimp quick connects on them to connect to the new buttons.

The microswitches on the verticals are exactly the same as the ones on the horizontals.

On the vertical ones they are held in by a screw.

On the horizontals the clip in using the small holes that are in the side of the switches.

Gotta add an amen. I'll only use vertical buttons for admin functions.

Since you already have decent microswitches, you could pick up some x-arcade buttons cheap...$9.95 for 20 of 'em. One note they are kind of short so if you were putting them through 3/4" AND plexi it MIGHT be a problem, also the microswitches that come with them are clicky--not a problem since you could just pop yours in...OH, and the color selection looks like something Henry Ford came up with!

I've used both, as well as Happs, and they are all pretty comperable. Opinions vary!
