Carnevil with dual light guns
« on: March 10, 2013, 01:23:57 am »
Long story short had a friend over to test out some light gun games....and 100% success rate until he picks carnevil.  :-[

I've tried the F2 calibration and can calibrate the first gun, but the second does not show up.

When I try to play with just the one gun, I hear the gun firing but nothing, registers on the screen.

It has to be a mame setting, I see a dual light gun option in the properties but I can't select the checkbox. Can someone post their mame controller settings?

Both guns work flawless in other 2 LG games.

There are no check boxes in MAME.  You're using some other UI version of MAME.

Counterintuitive, but the dual lightgun option should never be enabled with modern usb lightguns because they all show up as mice (the very old act labs guns that connect via gameport may be a different story).  Make sure multiple mouse is enabled.  Does it map P2 correctly when you remap them in the in-game (TAB) menu?  The procedure for mapping Act Labs light guns can be found on Derrick Renaud's mamdev page.  (can't easily provide a link because I'm using my phone)  Aim trak guns are treated as mice.

Yes, you're correct using MAMEUI64 (.0148). I think I have it sorted out but it was far from fun :).

For starters update the lines in your mame.ini as per the aimtrak user guide. (updates to 3 lines)(I had this from the beginning, but posting here in case others need help)

Next, I right clicked on the CarnEvil in MAMEUI and selected properties. The properties sheet should look like the below screenshot. Disabling the joystick input AND enabling Mulitple Mice fixed the first issue, and I was able to see both light guns in game. My biggest issue after I disabled the joystick input was I could not reload using the right/left button on the aimtrak (even with the right mouse button assigned to left button  in the aimtrak software). The aimtrak notes state "Button 2 is required for reload", once I turned off "Offscreen shots reload" reloading worked. I could not get the left/right buttons to register in the mame 'TAB' config window until I unchecked the offscreen shots reload?????

Lastly, go into the game and hit F2 to calibrate the light guns. - and = move up/down, F2 selects, and 1 exits.
