Happ Ultimate Pushbuttons?

Can anyone share their thoughts about the Happ Ultimate Pushbuttons?  I've used the horizontally mounted microswitches hundreds of times just like everyone else, but I think wiring could be easier if the microswitches were vertical in relation to the button chassis.

Has anyone actually used them?  What are your thoughts?

I would imagine that the sideways action on the microswitch button itself (rather than simply being pushed, as would be on a regular button) could wear quickly, but I imagine a simple dab of plastic gear lube could remedy that.

Anyone care to share their experiences?

I'm sure someone likes these but I also think they are crap.  The vertical switch is nice but I find them to be way to stiff.  Tough to play shmups when you have to push so hard to activate the switch.  Changed them out and will never use them again.

I don't know anyone who likes them, to be honest.  If you want a button that's a bit more mushy rather than clicky, I'd just get a Japanese style button.  From what I'm told, they tend to bind up easily, too, though the switch itself sometimes lasts longer since it's not possible to mash them quite as hard.

Alright, well the consensus seems clear.  I'm still going to order a couple and see if I can lube them up or replace a spring to make them feel a bit more acceptable.  Nothing will come of it, probably, but seems worth a shot.

If you are going to lube them, make sure you get some on all sides of the little actuator nub of the microswitch.  The way these work, they put pressure on that nub in a direction it was never designed for.  A little bit of thick silicone lube would be good for this.
