« on: March 03, 2013, 05:39:32 pm »
Hello-
Any suggestions where to find a 19" arcade crt? What are you thoughts of 8liners monitors?
Thank you for any info,
Robbie

I have bought monitors from 8 liners, Just be sure to tell Victor exactly what you expect before you buy one.

TV conversion chassis, or whole monitors?  I'm curious how well the chassis he sells for TV tubes work.

I've got an 8 liner monitor in my Arkanoid. Better than one out of a classic with a crap ton of burn in.

Where are you at? I have a ton of 19" monitors in St. Charles, MO.

Near enough to you that I can drive to you within a few hours.  Might be worth the trip for my husband to pick up a few if you have any with invisible burn-in when powered on, or no burn-in at all (hah.)  I'm gathering parts to build a few midway-style cocktail tables and proper monitors would fit the bill nicely.  I've no sympathy for monitor hoarders, who hoarded solely for profit, though.  :)  That said, if they're priced fairly, you may have a customer.

I have bought both the chassis and the complete monitors.  Both are good.  The monitors he has are used with light burn, look great when installed.  The chassis, installed properly make even a pacman monitor look decent.

I  finally found time to install my new arcade monitor from 8 Liners. It is great! No visible burn ins. I was very specific with what I wanted and Victor delivered. I am very happy!

would these be jamma compatible monitors? or made to work with that? and make a note when I say that I barely understand what it is I'm saying.
I'm thinking of building a couple jamma cabs, horizontal and vertical. I am not super close to you (dayton, oh) but my wife has friends in your area and I'm sure I could convince her to take a road trip in the near future if the price of the monitors isn't too high

Yes, they would be jamma compatible monitors.

I usually charge about $100 for a recapped monitor, although the price can go up or down a bit depending on how much burn in the tube has and what model of monitor it is.

hopefully you have a lot of them cause I doubt I'd be able to make my way over there before june. I'd definitely prefer a couple on the high quality side if I'm going to drive that distance. I'm assuming shipping would be both a huge pain and really expensive.

Man... was just scouting the St. Louis CL listings... you guys got it so much better than we have around here.  Many more games, and pricing is a bit more sane as well (those do tend to go hand-in-hand, of course).  I may have to make a trip up there some time if I can find a good game to pick up, and swing by for a monitor or three
