You can try automotive vinyl dyes on a white piece of t-molding. it's 1000x better than most of these paint cans that are supposedly made for plastic.

Popular brands are SEM, VHT, Plasticote, Color Bond and dupli-color.

Ok, thank you for the info.  That is good to know, will give it a try.

have no idea if it will actually work on t-molding but i do know that lots of guys that paint vinyl and plastics swear by it. worth giving it a shot.
It is worth giving it a try.  Something out there has to dye the T-mold. ;D  I just cant believe that there are only black & white for 1/2" T-mold.  Found red, grey & charcoal but have to get 500'.  No thank you, dont need that much 1/2". ;D

I know SEM sells a variety of colors and sells them in bare bottles so they can be fed into HLPV guns. The bare bottles can also be mixed.

If it works, bet those guys looking for the elusive sky blue t molding for their Journey cabs would want to give it a shot  ;D

It is great to see Degenatrons' barstick design in other folks hands.  I'm curious what y'all think of the form factor of a screen less bartop with arcade elements like marquee and t-moulding.

I like the form factor. Being able to use it on different tv's & monitors. The marquee part is what sold me. I already had a dual stick setup. Then seeing the barstick, I was like I want that.  ;D  So the shape of it, the marquee & put some small side art on it.  It will look like a lil arcade machine. No screen of coarse.
It will be a very nice setup once mine is finished.
So +1 in my book for the barstick, I am digging it so far.  I cant wait to get it done.  Thanks to everybody involved in this project.

Has anyone tried to use Raspberry Pi with ipac2 for your bartop arcade?

i have a question, why didn't you just go with 5/8 on the bartsick, so it doesnt limit folks to just 2 colors on t-molding...

On the barstick?  I could check if my CNC guy could get it.  Demand on the barstick has been fairly low, though...

I am ordering some white T-molding for my MVS build, I will be playing with the scraps to find a good method for dyeing or coloring.

The widescreen has been the best seller by far (which has surprised me, quite frankly).

oh yeah i forgot your doing melamine....only comes in 1/2 and 3/4 black on both sides.

I have some experience with the rit dye, really depends on the material.  Some plastics will not absorb the dye....You might get lucky with the t-mlding though....

here's a tut to help you out....

http://bmx-forum.com/t/183272/how-to-dye-plastic-parts-with-pics

widescreen monitors are easier to find than the 4:3, most folks dont wanna chance buying an older 4:3 monitor....might as well by the wide and play all your games strectched......

i have to craigslist all my monitor purchases getting harder to find now for a descent price.....

Thanks!  Not a bad CPO attempt, considering I just used red vinyl as the base, and then cut the white out and put on top.   :D

Can you tell me what type of button controls people normally put in the 2 holes in the top right area of the top panel (not the joystick and the 6 action buttons) and the 3 holes in the front of the panels?

Is it for "1 player", "2 player" for the top side and "pause", "coin", and "start" for the front side of the panel?

I am planning to use Hyperspin for the 1-player.  I want to know how I will do the wiring for the ipac mini.

Thanks.

Question:

How do you hook it up so that you only use one cord to plug into the electrical outlet to power up the monitor and the computer?

The monitor has one electrical cord and the power supply has another power cord.  I don't want to have 2 power cord coming out of the arcade bartop and have to plug in two cords.

How do you guys do the wiring?

I am new at building these things so please bare with me :-)

I went the easy way on my bartop and used a power strip inside the cabinet to plug in the monitor and PSU and have the cable from that run to the outside - That way you also have the surge protection offered by the power strip. (Note : not the cleanest application as I forgot to leave room for the PSU inside when scaling down from the original plans and wound up cutting a hole in the back for the PSU to gain the extra 1\2 inch of room needed to be able to put the back in place but worked out OK.

Others open the PSU case and solder the monitor wire straight into the PSU input so the one cord powers both - same can be done by using one of the adapters like in this pic and soldering both wires to it (which also allows the cord to be removed at the case.

Well I thought I would update on the Barstick.  ;D
Tried to dye the tmold, no go on what I tried with.  I am not done trying yet but I installed the white tmold on it for now.  I kind of like for what I have done so far, still want a blue to match this.
I got the plexi cut for $2 at the mom & pop hardware store in town, for the marquee. Gameongrafix did a great job again printing it.
Arcadeoverlays, I had do my custom size side art.  Todd was great there, it looks great & it was mailed in two days. So here is what I have done now.  ;D
  Kung Fu Master  tribute....

to much flash on this shot but the colors pop, my mini side art.

I dont have the marquee mounted yet, so I can get the light in there. It is just resting on it.

too darn exppensive....

I use these and these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10PCS-Snap-in-Universal-AC-Power-Chassis-Socket-W-Led-/120749224783

cheaper and work great....

Do you that one for both monitor and power supply since it has a total of 6 prongs ? (3 prongs for the monitor and 3 prongs for the power supply)

Also, how do you guys make the monitor and the power supply turn on at the same time?  My monitor has a button for on/off so when I mount the monitor inside the bartop cabinet,  how can it be turned on without pushing the on/off button of the monitor.  The same goes for the power supply.  I just want to push the power button outside the cabinet and both the monitor and the computer will turn on automatically at the same time.
