I just purchased a remote control with volume and mute for my R-91.Do the wires on the remote hook up to the same wires from the volume pot on the jukebox

Depends.  It is a wireless remote or dial type wired remote with cancel button?  If it is the wired type, then yes. Just be sure to disconnect the  original volume control wired that go to the back of the jukebox.

Hello Mountaindew,

On the amplifier compartment door you will find the connections that relate to connecting the jukebox to various items, remote speakers, volume control and reject etc.

From the amplifier (130 watt) you will have a connection marked volume (this is a five pin molex plug but it only 3 wires in it) pins 1, 2 and 5 these are terminated on the amplifier compartment door. you will find a shorting or linking plate on these connection to convert the standard two wire control to dual channel.

The link for standard 2 wire shorts out pins 1 & 5 (this would normally be the red wire) ground or the common connection is black and white is cancel.

If you have the manual the connections are shown on page 2-24.

Hello Mountaindew,

Ok you need to make up a test lead/volume control.

You can use the volume control plug that is attached to the amplifier if you do not have another molex plug and connections handy.

Check out the wires that go to the upper door from the 5 pin molex volume control plug and disconnect these three wires from the back of the connections.

On the plug using a craft knife or small terminal screwdiver push back the locking pawl on connection 2, when the connection is withdrawn from the molex push back the pawl so it will lock again when inserted.
Insert this connection into number 3 location. You now have a plug with connections now in pins 1, 3 and 5.

Obtain a 10k log control and connect the cable from pin 3 to the wiper and connect the wires from pins 1 & 5 to one end of the control (these are shorted together).

If you still do not get any volume operating this test control you have lost the ground to the amp on the mute plug or there is a fault on the amplifier.

Regards
Alan
