Mag-Stik Plus 4-way/8-way joystick help
« on: February 15, 2013, 04:18:41 pm »
Hello All,

I have two Mag-Stik Plus 4-way/8-way joysticks wired to an I-pac2 in my MAME cabinet. When I switch the joysticks from 4-way to 8-way by either pulling up on them and rotating them or by lifting the control panel and flipping the switch on each stick, player 2 seems to begin moving to the right constantly as though players 2's right movement button is being held down on the keyboard. Obviously this makes it nearly impossible to play two player 8-way games like Gauntlet or Mortal Kombat. Has anyone had this experience before and been able to figure it out?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Check the alignment of the limit switch on player 2.  It sounds like something is causing the switch to close when you change the restrictor.  Also, don't hesitate to reach out to Andy at Ultimarc.

I'm still a little new to some of this. What is the limit switch?

Sorry, meant microswitch.....where your wires are connected on the joystick.  Lift the panel and move the 4/8 way switch and listen for a click of the switch in question.  Also check to see if anything is pushing the switch in and making contact.
