my rowe 100a jukebox
« on: February 07, 2013, 09:42:34 pm »
My juke quit working a few weeks ago. I read about the battery on the ccc going bad can cause probs so i got coin battery holder and soldered it onto ccc and that worked good. Next problem was lost all power to board and looked around for awhile and finally pulled the PS out of it and the 8 amp fuse was blown. Cleaned holder and put new fuse in. Now I have power to the ccc but it wont play anything untill I unplug the p5 plug from the ccc. I can select music with console and it wont play till I unplug the p5 plug. As soon as I unplug it the cd rack starts working and the player plays the cd, if I plug the p5 connector back up while it is playing it stops immediately. Everything works on the display including number buttons. The only thing that wont work is the page flipper buttons. When I unplug the p5 plug al the stuff on the console goes out number of credits, song number etc. I have no problems with the flurescent lights or the cds turning in the top or the small leds. the 8 vdc light is on and 28 vac is on but the 28 vdc light is off till i unplug the p5 plug. When I unplug it the 28vdc light comes on and it starts playing music. This juke plays regular cds good but it wont play burned cds very well. I burn in wave format and this helped but it sometimes wont play burned cds at all. The player says pro player on side and says rpl optic 09. Any help would be appreciated. Also have robotron ,berzerk and frenzy dedicated arcades and play them regularly. Lata Heff.

In my opinion, it may be one of the following

-A stuck key on the keyboard
-CCC may be going bad
-The digital display board may be going bad.

May be a long shot, but I would first test to see if one of the keys on the keyboard is stuck or shorted out.  If that does not solve the problem, see if you can get your hands on another CCC and display so you can test.

As for the cd pro player, I found that it can be a little finicky playing burned CDs. I have ran into issues that the cd player did not like the brand of CDR I was using. I have also found that sometimes the CD would not play when I burned it using Roxio, but would play great when I burned it with Windows Media Player.  You will have to play around with it until you find a method that works well with your player.

Good luck.

I took the ccc out and resoldered the pins on the board where the p5 connector goes and the big connector on top but this didnt help. Is it possible the ps is going bad and cant give enough power to operate everthing like the control board and the cd player at the same time. I wil look this over when I get time . Thanx

I would check out the power supply PCB out for dry joints on the connections from the transformer and also check the 28 volts DC under load (a couple of small 12 volts lamps in series will do).

You could see if keyboad and displays works ok by disconnecting the title rack from the from the keyboard & Display at connection J5/B2.

The Display board has a transformer on it I have found these to go faulty in the past, or there could just be a fault on the Title page motor or gearing (40833802 Rack CD Title Page).

Took the digital display out and the main plug was discolored and was very hot. it has a black block soldered right at it and I think it is a small transformer. Anyway i found a spare board on ebay and installed it and now everything works except the page flippers. Dont know if it is the buttons or what. I took the button board out and tested continuity with a meter and all the buttons were working right. I started messing with the plugs on the ccc and if I unplug the C3 plug by itself it blows the fuse in the PS. So now when I get time I will pull it out and replace 8 amp fuse and see what else I can find. I think my ccc has some bad connections. Do you guys think I need a new button board or a ccc. I can get ccc for 90 buks reworked. Dont know about the button board. Thanks Heff.

Bought a ccc off ebay tested working and will put it in when I get it. Hopefully this will be the fix I need. If all works except button board flipper buttons that will be my next purchase. Thought about just getting rid of the thing but I love punching a song in and playing my robo or Berzerk and other arcade games while I jam.

Hey guys. Got my reworked ccc off of ebay and installed and ran full initialize mode and it worked good. Some of the cd"s didn't scan but they may be dirty, also the burned ones I put in will not scan--bummer. Now all works good but the pages wont flap still. Took the whole flap section out and the little motor says 28vdc so I put my meter in the plug that goes to it and hit the button and got nothing. Don't know if it will not get power because of continuity or what but it should still run to the meter. Also checked the resistance through the little motor and it read 29 to 30 ohmz which seems a bit much. maybe the motor shorted or just finally died. Either way would like some input on next step to take. All else is good so I may look for another keyboard or another flap motor. All the number buttons and the reset and popular buttons work fine so I think it is the motor. Any input would be appreciated.
