Mame32 and Arcade Fight Stick
« on: January 29, 2013, 01:04:28 pm »
I have long been trying to build a mame cabinet and because of lack of knowledge, time, funds, etc....I have decided to go a much simpler route.  Since I have spent alot of time gathering my roms, the only version of mame I understand enough to get using is MAME32.  So what I would like to do now is hook a computer up to an extra 32" tv I have and run mame32 on it.  My main question is I just picked up one of these.....

my question is how can I get mame32 to recognize the stick, my computer already recognizes it but when I run mame it appears that only a few button on the controller work.  Also when I do figure this out, is there a way for games to automatically configure themselves for use with this fight stick or do I have to config. every game.

Ok, if I understand your problem it's relatively easy.  I just set up a 4 player controller panel for my arcade pedestal.

Here is what you do.  As long as your computer runs Mame32 fine and recognizes your controller as a device just simply keep your keyboard plugged in as well and start ANY rom.

When the game starts hit tab then select "General Controls" or something like that to configure the buttons for ALL the games at once.

Go through your player one and configure everything to your controller, up, down, coin, start, etc..  That's as simple as hitting enter at the button you wanna change and then hitting the button you wanna change it to.

Then Tab out of the menu.  Now it's saved.  Done.
