Where's a good place to get .187 disconnects?
« on: November 03, 2003, 08:06:40 pm »
I've looked in several electronics stores, including Radio Shack, but none of them sell them in quantities larger than 20 per bag. Few even carry the right size. I've also looked at some online stores, and I've had better luck, but all of the online stores I've seen charge more for shipping than they do for the disconnects, or they have a minimum order more than I'd like to spend. Where would you say is the best place to get them?

Oh yeah. They also need to be red (22 gauge) and be fully insulated. And I need around 200 of them.

Peale's prices don't seem like they'd be for fully insulated disconnects. And there were only pictures of blue uninsulated ones. I did send a PM, but I'm not holding my breath.

oh you want the entire disconnect covered?

id suggest looking at a local electrical distributor

you can buy them in bulk and alot of times they dont care about what company you work for

if they ask make up a name and pay with cash

dont know where you are but midwest states we have elgee and basic electric

I bought mine when I made an order from Bob Roberts.  It worked out great.

Replied to your PM.  Although only the blue ones are pictured, I do have red as well.  Not fully insulated, though, just the butt ends.

Fully insulated is overkill for a control panel.  Unless you really squeeze the buttons together (and you'd have to really, REALLY squeeze them together to get them to touch) .

I've found these a little hard to find as well.  My local hardware store has them in boxes of 10 for something like $1.50 each, which is a little high.

However, I've been able to find the 0.250 quick-disconnects for much cheaper.  I bought a box of 50 of them at the same hardware store for only $3.  I'm probably crazy for doing this, but I just give them a very slight crush with a pair of pliers before putting them on the switches, and they stay just fine.  You can't crush them too much, though, or they won't fit at all.

Yeah...
I won a bag of 200 of the 0.25" disconnects & I just have to pinch them a little tighter to get them to grab the tabs on the microswitches.

But they were a TON cheaper than trying to buy them locally & they were fully insulated. (Not totally neccesary, but a nice touch)
I'm not a freak!...
Oh wait...
Yes I am...
