Should I buy this
« on: January 15, 2013, 06:56:52 am »
Hi everyone,

I was at a 2nd hand dealer today and I came across an old arcade cabinet...it was for Lethal Enforcers II Gun Fighters..I have placed some photos below.

Here are the facts about the cabinet
  • The guy didn't know if it worked or not. He said that the person he bought it from said all it needed was a new screen because the old one was started to fade out
  • The screen was sitting flat in the cabinet and it has a mirror on a 45deg angle that the player looked at. Is this normal?? (I haven't been to an arcade in yrs)
  • The stickers were starting to peel
  • Because it was made out of chipboard, the bottoms of the side panels were really falling apart
  • Generally, the chipboard was starting to fall apart in a few places (you can see this in some of the photos I have attached)
  • The guns seemed to be in good condition (obviously can't tell if they actually work though).
  • The guns look like they are original Konami

The guy wants $120 AUD (about $126 USD)

I don't really know if it is worth fixing up...

My next project is to make a dedicated cabinet for Point Blank...maybe I can use some of the bits from this cabinet ??

What does everyone think???

for a shooting cab, the monitor / mirror set up is normal. Someone did something to the guns, player 1 is normally blue. When someone says "I dont know if it works or not" what they mean is "it doesnt work"

I wouldnt drop that much coin on it, but thats just me.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Thanks Malenko...

When someone says "I dont know if it works or not" what they mean is "it doesnt work"

Yeah, I wasn't confident on it actually working....I am not even really keen on the actual game...I was more keen on changing it into a Point Blank (and hoping that the guns could be used - somehow  ???

I guess it depends how hard it is to come by cabinets in your area. Offer $50-75 for it and see what happens. If they decline point out everything that makes it only worth that much and if they won't budge walk away.

my point blank 2 is in that cabinet, if you plan on using the filter board for the guns you'll need a different cabinet harness as its not true JAMMA with the filter board in plac,  BUT PB2 is useable with a JAMMA harness and some creative wire hooking-up, As long as the guns WORK and utilize 4 pins ( +5V, GND, Trigger, Opt Sensor )you can play the game, you'll want the filter board and a seprate 24VDC power supply AND the original NAMCO guns if you want the recoil to work, but in my experience those solenoids typically have something wrong with them.  IF the recoil is to work you will need the whole NAMCO shebang or some serious skill to get it wired up correctly, but playable game would be fairly simple, just take the filter board off PB and use the pins on the MOBO specified in the post below

oh and keep in mind that this cabinet weighs about 350-400 lbs and its HUGE, Couldn't get mine up a flight of stairs, so its in the basement at my office (Service elevator ftw).   So make sure you have some strong friends unless this is just going to sit on your front porch.
