I've got a Crystal Castles Cocktail (S/N CK00030) in great shape (new original top glass) and a Gauntlet machine in OK shape that plays really well.  My son loves them and can actually play Gauntlet relatively well.

My son is one and a half. I can't wait until he's excited about gaming like your son!

Ever since I bought him this "Wreck it Ralph" read along book, he's wanted to listen to it every night before bed.  When we saw the movie that sealed the deal, now he even wants to read/listen to it most days before nap time.  We've watched the trailers probably 100 times.  He now says things like "Wreck it Ralph good bad-guy" and "Wreck it Ralph, Donkey Kong!"  The wii u we just bought has added to it too.  We play Super Mario on it.  He's not quite ready to control Mario himself, but I control Mario and he uses the U controller to add blocks for me so I can get up high (like the flag at the end of the board for a free guy) and he smashes the bad guys before they get to me.  It's amazing what these little people are capable doing and understanding.  Have fun, the months seem to be flying by.  I'm sure your son will be playing along side you in no time.

I tried the Feb 8th version tonight.  I had some issues at first that turned out to be PEBKAC.   ;)

I was able to complete a level and the bricks now kill Felix.  Looking good so far Sjaak.

Plays well on my work machine. I'll throw it on my vert MAME cab and test it with a joystick.

You made me de-lurk after almost 6 years!

Got the Feb 11 build running on a mini ITX AMD E350 with 4Gb RAM (bargain - £50) Win7 64bit and it seems totally stable so far. Damned addictive too  ;D

Excellent work man - thanks for doing this.

Feb 11 is great.

Missing boot sequence (garbled chars) but ram+rom OK there.
I love the victory song!

Shaping up!

There should be some support. It works with my gamepad. Haven't been able to test it with a joysticks...

ok, thanks Sjaak.  I'm doing a controller hack with some generic usb gamepads for my joysticks. I am using XP.

I wasn't sure if there were any configuration settings for it or if it was already setup to run directions and buttons 1 and 2.

Way impressive man, everything looks very realistic.  Runs perfect on my bartop with the following specs:
AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.2GHz 1GB PC2 4200 RAM 80GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 SATA HDD running TinyXP.

Tried the 2-11-13 update. Working great. Got the computer running this weekend with the game on a vertical monitor (actually thanks to 98Pacecar) and quite a bit done on the cabinet. Going for a somewhat weathered look as the ones for promo.wound up using an iPac wired to the 1-2-Fix-Jump CPO config (as in the film) and working fine.

Really awesome game Sjaak!!

Well, I finally got my DK cabinet today.  Took a three hour roadtrip, but it was worth it!

It needs a lot of work, but I'm really excited! :D

Nope, I probably have to change some stuff. I'm running tests now with a ZD Encoder, so that should be similar to a GGG gamepad encoder.

Payment sent!  Thanks again, Sjaak :)

Just curious, this is a question for all the people here who are building a cabinet.  Are you doing to the four button control panel or just three, like DK.  I noticed that I played the game at DisneyQuest much better without the jump button, and I don't have a lot of experience working with wood, so I'm indifferent to cutting up a good CP just for a button I'm not going to use, lol.  What do you guys think?

You need the jump button in higher levels to jump over stacks of bricks. Take a look at the video at 0:34

Ahhh, good to know!  I would die every time I got to around level 5 or 6 so I never got a chance to get pass the boulders.

I think it's working fine for me now.  At least, the folder is showing up on DropBox.com.

Anyways, Sjaak, epic job on the game!!!  It's absolutely great!  ;D

I noticed that the Level Complete music wasn't there so I opened up FamiTracker and wrote the song from what I remembered when playing the game.  I do have a recording of the actual song from the game somewhere that I'll have to pull out and compare, but I uploaded my version and wanted to see what you guys think.

Sounds excellent!

I still need a lot of sounds and music. Benjamoose was helping out with that (he did the music for the roof sequence), but he suddenly disappeared and I haven't heard from him since.

I disabled the boot garble because it takes a couple of seconds to run and that is a long time to wait when your testing the program.

If you want, I can help out with sound effects and music.  I've been doing sound design for over 7 years now. :)

That would be really helpfull. I'm going to make a folder with all the sounds I have and a list of sounds I need and share that with you...

Awesome, I have a lot more stuff to share, such as music from the game via the Complete Score that was leaked.  If anyone has video of gameplay with fairly audible sounds, I can use that video for reference to recreate sounds and music from the game.

EDIT:

Also, here's a temporary piece of music for when the screen scrolls up the building to the second series of windows.  Again, this is written from memory, so if anyone has any references via video, sound files, etc., that would be greatly appreciated.

i tested the 15th of feb update and it is miles ahead of previous ones.

have you set a time limit on it? reason i ask is after a certain amount of time it goes to the main screen and i have to start again.

Yeah, works fine on my setup.  I got to level 8. :) I was going to try and beat the highscore but got bored.

i tested the 15th of feb update and it is miles ahead of previous ones.

have you set a time limit on it? reason i ask is after a certain amount of time it goes to the main screen and i have to start again.

I think that's because you only have 3 lives.

it happens even if i dont lose any lives. oh well, might just be my laptop. i will have a try later and let my kids have a crack aswell.

When I tried the latest version, the screen goes black for a few seconds when I start a new game. It doesn't seem right. Am I the only one seeing this?

I think that should have been the "I CAN FIX IT!" animation...I'll take a look at that
