Suggested LCD Monitor Stand for Pedestal Cabinet?
«

I'm building a pedestal cabinet and am looking for a floor stand for a 39" LCD (LCD weighs under 30 lbs). Does anyone have an economical solution for this (homemade or retail)? I see that Happ sells the Peerless for $309 at their website (
http://na.suzohapp.com/monitors/49567210.htm
) but that's more than what I'm paying for the television. I was also considering mounting it on the wall but I like the idea of being able to move everything into a different room or into my garage if need be. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It's going to be a PGA Team Challenge pedestal cabinet. Thanks!

Look into a computer recycling/reclamation services in your area. Got a 6ft version of one of these

for 20 bucks for a studio build. Just thinking out loud.
good day.

That was a great idea. Unfortunately my recycling drop off center does not resell to anyone. They have another service that picks up from them and that additional service doesn't resell. I really appreciate the tip though!

How about using a variation on the upper monitor mount on Moogster66's PVC portable Pinball/Mame setup rom VPForums.org?
Use metal straps to mount a board with VESA mount holes inside or in front of the upper PVC rectangle. ("schedule 40" PVC is probably your best bet for this application)
You can make the arch smaller than the monitor so only the legs are visible from the front.
You could also make a similar flat-top arch from 1" (?) threaded iron pipe with T's at the bottom connected to capped pipe legs that reach both forward and back for stability like the Happ mount you linked earlier.
For easier portability, use elbows and mounting flanges to connect the forward and back legs to a plywood base with
tilt-and-roll casters
attached.

EDIT: Forgot to mention SpaceHedgehog's
Project Raptor
build as a related example.
