Advice wiring 4 way stick
« on: December 05, 2012, 10:44:11 am »
Hey guys couldn't find good answer searching so need some advice.  Im wiring a 2 player cp with a dedicated 4way stick that will go to a minipac. How exactly do you wire the 4way to the 8way player 1? Is it simple as bringing both wire s together then for each direction then to the input on minipac? Thanks.

Yes it's as simple as doubling up the wires.

The only real difference between the two is that one joystick allows you to physically hit two switches at once and the other will only physically allow you to hit one switch at a time.

Edit: just to clarify you don't want to use both at the same time do you?

No not using at the same time. The 4 way is a dedicated pacman/galaga stick. I have alot of buttons so on the minipac are limited to 32 inputs.

Then yes just double up the wires on the input. So both joysticks are gong to the same inputs.

Thanks

Looking for something like this?

When lines cross, a dot = connected and no dot = not connected.

You can also put a toggle switch on the ground wire to "lockout" one of the joysticks.
So there is no accidental pushing of the other joystick messing you up.
I think its a SPDT switch if I remember correctly.

My main cabinet which has a two player dualjoy layout plus a 4-way doubles up some of the wiring to get all the sticks active on a standard ipac. The hitting of the secondary sticks just never comes up.
