xin-mo based usb controller - win 7 driver problems
« on: November 24, 2012, 07:48:30 am »
Howdy all, just started my first mame cabinet and new to all this. Maybe someone here has experienced the same problem as me and might be able to help.

I have the xin -mo  2 player usb controller and trying to get it to work on windows 7 64 bit os (sp2) pc and its not being recognised.

i have tried deleting the driver inf file so it gets rebuilt and searched a whole bunch of forums for drivers etc all to no avail.

does anyone know if the wiring may affect the detection of the controller? i have triple checked my connections and also tried the controller without any of the buttons and joysticks plugged in and it still doesnt detect. i just get unknown device. i have looked at the device input path in the properties to see if i can get the manufacture / device details but they are set to VID_0000&PID_0000.

i have tried on a laptop thats running win 7 32 bit also same problem.

You might want to contact the vendor from whom you purchased it for a replacement.  In our testing, we have run across a couple with this problem, so we always give them a quick test before they get shipped.  They are a low-cost unit and don't see much in the way of QC from the manufacturer.

These should work fine on Win7, 32 or 64 bit versions.  Usually an "Unknown Device" error on an HID device indicates that the system has detected that something has been plugged into the USB port, but the device is not actually communicating it's information to the PC.  IOW, improperly functioning device.  Having repaired a couple, I can say that the cause is likely a poor soldering job on one or more of the components.  You also want to try the unit with a different cable, just to make sure it's not the culprit.  The cables are prepackaged, and a bad one could also be responsible for this kind of problem.
