Alternative to cfg magician?
« on: November 22, 2012, 11:25:22 pm »
Cfg magician does not seem to have updated files for the latest mame distributions. I saw the creator had a post about making them yourself, but it would not work after following all the directions. This program seems like it would be vital for a lot of people as it seems to be the only way to have both neo geo fighters and capcom fighters set up correctly without going through every game manually. Can someone direct me to some alternative resources?

I'm interested in this as well.  Does anyone have updated config files for mame 147 or an alternative (cfg magician worked great though!)

Actually found the answer to my own question, used the following to create the new data files attached to this post!

I haven't tested the new cfg yet, but i'll test it out tomorrow, looks promising though!

FYI I confirmed this does work, but you must do the following -

Must have the latest version of cfg magician 162

For some reason when cfg magician automatically copies the cfg folder over the the mame/cfg directory it changes the inputs on its own.  Must manually copy the cfg files from the New CFG files in the cfg magician directory over to the mame cfg folder.

Finally for some strange reason cfg magician doesn't let me see the okay button at the bottom for 1 button controls and 6 button controls.  For these i had to click on player 4 controls, select a weird button (like button 13), and hit control and enter to make it process.
