Trouble getting a few emulators running under Mala
« on: November 21, 2012, 09:23:57 am »
I was able to get Mala and mame running without much of a problem except some of the roms do not work. I did the  -verifyroms and some came back as bad which might explain whey they didnt work. Not sure if they are old version or not but not sure how to make them work at this time.

As for the purpose of the post. Here are the three emulators I am having issues with. If I should be using a newer emulator for a system type or you know a way to resolve these issues any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nintendo 64 - Project64 v1.6 - I get an error saying "Attempt to open file failed" I found the link below about adding ""  but that is still not working. I can open just Project64 through windows and open the rom from that and it will open correctly.

Sega Genesis - Gens  -  Opens the games but they are in small windows. I cant figure out how to make it full screen.

Nintendo  -  RockNesX V 2.0 Final  -  Sorry but file was not found when trying to launch game

Sorry dude, I opened your post hoping to help but my Mala build uses all different emulators. I'm all arcade. No console emulators.

My key suggestion is to make sure you have the latest and greatest rom for each emulator. If incomplete errors come up. Get new roms.

Otherwise you could post in each emulator forum or post in the subject line the name of each emulator your having trouble with for more success from others here.

Project 64 is covered in Uncle T's guide stickied at the top of this forum.
It looks like the link to the word document no longer works, but there is a .txt version there.
If you open it in wordpad instead of notepad it will be easier to read.

I haven't used Gens or RockNes.
I think most people use Kega Fusion and FCEUltra or Nestopia.

It might help if you post the command lines and rom extensions that you have set in Mala.

Can you successfully launch a game in those other emulators via command line outside of Mala?

On a couple oddball emulators, I had to put the roms in the same folder as the .exe instead of in a rom subfolder.

Thanks for the info. I switched to a few different emulators and im good. Still no luck on Project 64. I can open the emu and then open the rom but I am not even able to open rom from command prompt.

I don't remember having any issues with it.
I'll post whatever I have for the command line and rom extension tomorrow evening.

Settings in Mala:

I have search subfolders underneath the rompath checked for some reason.  Didn't look at the roms to see why.

Rom Extensions: z64

Command Line: %path%\%rom% %ext%

Hotkeys enabled (to close emulator)
Under hotkeys setup:
Name: Close
Source: ESC (or whatever your exit key is)
Destination: F4

Settings in Project64 v1.6:

Pause emulation when window not active: enabled
On loading rom go fullscreen: enabled
Hide Advanced Settings: enabled

It's most likely your command line.
I took a picture of mine, but it is kinda fuzzy.
Pretty sure there is a space between %rom% and %ext%, but if it doesn't work that way, try it without one.
