megatouch xl upright touch screen panel

Hi there I recently purchased a megatouch xl with a faulty touch screen I was wondering if any one knew where I could buy on from. Also would I be able to use a mouse to play the game as I noticed it has a connection for a mouse
Any help would be great thanks

There is no pointer, so using a mouse would be difficult.

The touchscreen is just a plastic cover over the monitor.
It or the controller (the little white box it's connected to) can be replaced separately from the monitor.

Are you sure the touchscreen is faulty and doesn't just need calibrated in the service menu?

If you have a computer with a serial port, you can install drivers for an ELO serial touchscreen monitor and test it.
It will just show up as a mouse on the pc and the mouse pointer should go wherever you touch.

Coincidentally, an LCD ELO touchscreen with a serial port connection will work as a replacement if you wanted to get into making it fit.  I have a little one sitting on top my bar with the megatouch xl guts under my bar.

There are a couple members on here that deal with megatouch's regularly and might be along with parts.

the touch screen's came in a few dif flavour's
1=glass overlay
1=hardplastic overlay
the glass 1 is used most often on the crt type,the hard plastic is used most often on the flat lcd display,there is a little white or black controller box hooked to it.
go to setup in x/l
and do a screen test >calabration<,this will tell u if the touch part is going sideway's
your best move is to chk out auction's as when bought from happ the overlay as it is known will run about 125.00 to 225.00 from happ control's
unless u get lucky and someone is scrapping a megatouch

Hi there thanks for your replys , I have tested the touch screen and is defo faulty , I have been offered a elo crt touch screen monitor but is has a usb connection so not sure if it would be any good

the ion and radion used usb interface,it's a little dif
but flat is flat,curved is curved
your controller >little black of white box<,may or may not work with it ?
the big dif is between the panel and interface :number of pin's: off of the :ribbon: that come's off of the touch panel

How is it faulty?

You can get a new touch screen overlay from "the megatouch store".
I bought one from ebay when I was restoring mine for about $50.00.

The monitor you were offered would likely not work.
You would need one with a serial connector and the built-in
touch screen controller would have to be compatable with the
megatouch drivers.

does it matter what touch screen controler i have
and any help with what models of elo touch screen that should work would be great

ps touch screen is defo faulty as it is cracked

I'm not quite sure what you would do with that elo
monitor even if it did work with the megatouch.

Do you have a plan for figuring out how to install it
in the megatouch cabinet?

Also are you sure the XL you bought has a elo touchscreen/controller? Most ive come across  have a microtouch SMT-3 controller. Just putting that out there before you buy an elo. Also what version software is your XL?

There is a video on youtube showing someone using
a similar elo monitor with the megatouch xl hardware.

If it doesn't work, you could disconnect the touchscreen
from the elo's built in touchscreen controller and wire it
up to the 3m controller.

They used both microtouch and elo touchscreens in the earlier versions so what your most likely seeing is a script running. From what ive heard is that in newer models they removed support for elo touchscreens so the elo script was probably commented out.

I dont have much experience with elo touchscreens. Ive only ever had one elo touchscreen that was resistive  touch and i can verify it didnt work with force or ion but i never tried it with a xl titanium so i dont know. The microtouch they use are capacitive.

Thanks for all your help , in the end I got a 17 inch crt elo touchscreen cost me £15 with delivery and it works a treat just got to fit it in , again thanks for your help

Hi, I have a megatouch gold XL upright cabinet, bought it 2 weeks ago for next to nothing. The crt monitor was gutted, and I have an 18 inch Elo LCD touchscreen I was hoping to hook up. With the vga and serial cables hooked up, I start the machine and I get the opening "megatouch gold" screen, and then the game options, but the touchscreen portion is not working.  has anyone else done this? I am not sure if my elo touchscreen truly doesn't work or what the hold up is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.   -Steve

Try a new serial cable. The same thing happened to me recently. A new cable solved everything.

Have u tried to  calibrate the screen using the button in side coin door I had to do this when I firstconnected my new monitor
