New I-PAC, J-PAC Enhancements
« on: November 10, 2012, 02:56:59 pm »

All I-PAC,  J-PAC and Mini-PAC boards now being sent have several enhancements.

For the first time they support sleep/wake, so PC power control is possible from the control panel. Also support mouse buttons on any connection.

The full list of changes is:

•   Any input can be selected as a left or right mouse button in addition to keyboard keys (including shift combinations invoked by holding Start1)

•   Any input can be selected as power off, sleep or wake (including shift combinations)

•   Any input can be selected as volume down or up  (including shift combinations). Holding the button causes volume to gradually increase/decrease

•   WinIPAC programming no longer requires a driver when used in USB mode so install in Windows 7 is cleaner.

•   Improved reliability of download in PS/2 mode.

•   Pause key now supported (useful for visual pinball)

A new version of WinIPAC is required for these enhanced boards. This is already downloadable from www.ultimarc.com/download.html

The new version is backward-compatible with older boards (without power and mouse functions) and no settings are required to be changed when using old or new boards with it.

The hardware is unchanged but unfortunately the addition of the extra USB endpoints for power control and mouse mean the firmware cannot be field-upgraded unfortunately because the base "permanent" USB code changes.

Does the new software work with an older board to control volume?  I have a mini-pac that I'd a few years old and would like to be able to use the volume feature.

Thanks

Depending on the age of the board we might be able to upgrade it but would mean sending it here.

Ack!  I just got my I-Pac4 in from you a couple of weeks ago, is it possible to trade it back so I can get the mouse functionality?  Thanks.
