Network MAME ?!
« on: October 28, 2003, 11:44:47 pm »
How many programmers are out there?

I was just thinking how neat it would be to play against other folks on this board.  Say with Classics like Asteroids, we each take our turn and when the other is playing, I can still see the screen.  Of course, an audio link between the players would be wayyyyy cool.  Crap we could recreate a Pac-Man tournament and give away a Commodore64!  Xevious, Street Fighter, holy cow what fun!

Anyone game?

Whoa! I am a programmer and I never knew that the prog existed! Tell me... (i've read the kaerilla website, cant get much to make sense on this)

Could a person have two MAME cabs side by side and run them directly head to head... OR OR OR    4 PLAYERS IN THE SAME ROOM?  ::faints::

good stuff, i like this idea.

Yes, but you have to setup a server...

btw, I found that I CANT easily setup a server here.  Anyone have the resources to setup a BYOAC Kaillera server?

I would LOVE to get some cross country cab-cab games running...

Probably.. T1 here,  but I don't know how well everyone would ping.  I ran a Tribes 1 server for a while and the connection sucked for most people.  We're upgrading to a full T3 sometime...

Now with cup beer holders!

dunno if this would work, but couldnt you use a splitter and send the signal to two TVs? Obviously this would only work for games that had all the characters on one screen though.

I thought of that a while ago.  I actually considered building a 4 player cab that was actually two cabs back to back.  Just split the video to two monitors like you said.  That way everyone gets the same amount of CP real estate.

btw, to integrate two cabinets together in the same room..

split the monitor... and wire the keypresses back.

Kaillera is designed to go over the internet... It only works for some games.  It gets unsync'd often.
