What is the ultimate fate of our custom made arcade machines?
A member here wrote something that got me thinking.
Some of us have spent a LOT of time, effort, and money building custom arcade machines. In my case, I love the
arcade machine I built. It sits in a small nook at the head of our hall, and it's always noticed when we have friends over.
But... How long is this thing going to "live"?
I never really gave any thought to the end of line when I was building it. Is there a day somewhere in the future when it's going to be sitting out on the front lawn with a big "FREE" sign attached?
Maybe I'll end up giving it away. Maybe I should write a users manual for whoever ends up with the thing... just in case its life exceeds my own.
I'm more inclined to think one of my grandkids will discover it under a tarp in the back of some future shop.
Of course, my son may continue to love it. Then he can decide what happens to it.
