Marquee Install
« on: November 04, 2012, 11:14:20 am »
I'm getting to the point on my build that I need to figure out some finish elements. The biggest one in my head this week is...how does everyone mount the marquee? what kind of retainers are used?
I went through looking at a lot of the build pictures, but I couldn't really find the best answer. I considered using a small strip of wood (1/4x1/4) all the way around on the outside, mount the marquee, and then quarter-round on the inside to keep it in place, but that doesn't sound like it'll be near as nice as others are showing.

Can you not make a slot for the facia?

It is not that difficult.   ::)

Why not just use marquee retainers. There are good number of sources including twisted quarter and arcade boneyard.
Some machines have a small route out for the marquee and then retainers.

Check out what mcseforsale did with his cab.  Very cheap solution.  Perhaps you can do the same to yours?

Yeah, I normally use whatever I can find at Home Depot and paint black whenever I am in need of a retainer, both for original and scratchbuilt cabinets.

This is how it's done on my old jamma cabinet. A simple and pretty cheap solution

Thanks for the link to this. Just pulled the tape off of my corner protector and it looks absolutely amazing. Not bad for 1.80!

If I ever build a second cabinet, I may have to design it for this...I really like the simplicity of this design!

It is indeed a pretty nice and simply way to fix this. 2 screws and you can open it to fix the light or put another marquee in.

Dammit...I just built a cab and this would be prime.  Especially on the Kneivel evolution!  You can get to the speakers/install them, after the cab is built.  This is the way to go!!

Screw that buck eighty eight.  I'm on this!!
