HELP ME FIX THIS HUM IN A ROWE STARLIGHT ...PLEASE..

       HELLO SOOO...THIS ROWE/AMI STARLIGHT CD HAS THIS LOW PICH HUM WHEN THERE IS NO CD PLAYING CAN ANYBODY SUGGEST SOMETHING TO MAKE THIS STOP?

Take the speakers that are buzzing out of the jukebox.  Unscrew the cover off the speaker and check the speaker membrane (paper thin cover that surrounds the center cone) for any excessive dust, rips, or holes.  I had this happen to a Rowe CD-100 Laserstar.  In my case it was just years of dust that piled up that I was able to clean off and have the buzzing go away.  I've looked up that you can use rubber cement to seal up holes or rips, but I can't really offer any tips on repair cause I've never tried it.  Good luck.

Hi Kelly,

By all means check the speakers. The speakers used would be the type that have a foam surround and this does perish after a few years, if you find the foam hard, brittle or cracked then you can buy foan surround kits to renew the speaker (however if the cone is damaged it needs to be replaced).

Your fault however will be an issue on the amplifier and it needs servicing. If you are in the USA I would send it to Bruce Wentworth in Europe myself.

see I have 2 amps. and thay both do the same . so mabe it's a grounding issue? or something of that nature.

Does the hum happen all the time? Can you hear it at all when the jukebox is playing? If not, it may be possible that the mute is not activating when the jukebox is idle. check the orange with black stripe wire that is going to the CD mechanism and be sure it is making a good connection.

AIf the mute is working, try unplugging the RCA connectors going from the cd mechanism to the amp.Does the issue go away? If so, it may be a grounding problem. May be reaching for straws here, but you can always try a groung loop isolator.
