What Forum app do you use?
« on: November 01, 2012, 09:09:46 pm »
I have noticed several people using Tapatalk app.  I was wondering what other apps people use and how they compare.  I know Forum Reader support the BYOAC form but you have to buy the app.  Tapatalk you have to buy.  I am going to buy a forum app but I do not have a clue about which one is better for this form.  I have the free Forum Reader that I follow WatchUSeek.  I would rate it middle of the road.  I can get about the same thing from the browser.  I have an iPhone.  So lets find the best app for us.
Careful what you wish for you may get it!!

I HATED Tapatalk on my Blackberry, but I love it now on my Android Samsung SII.

I've been just using Firefox browser on my Android phone and tablet to get to the site.

I did purchase Tapatalk, but I never got around to setting it up and such. Maybe one day.

I use tapatalk and love it. It runs pretty fast after the forum software was upgraded.

I use tapatalk on my iPhone 4S. I like it. It takes me directly to the latest post in each thread that I haven't read. I haven't been able to figure out how to bookmark a thread though.

The interface is clean and it is fast.

what is the advantage of tapatalk? I was thinking about getting it for the iphone.

Tapatalk makes it is very easy to navigate trough the forums. It gives you a far better user experience when on a phone. It is designed for running on small screens.

Generally speaking, tapatalk makes it easier to traverse through threads, search, upload photos, and post comments (when on a phone). The main thing I don't like with traversing through the forums with a browser on a phone is that I continuously find myself zooming in and out all the time to navigate.

There is also an app called forum runner, it is ok. Tapatalk has more features, has a better look and feel, and is a little more robust.

Tapatalk is definitely worth the buy in my opinion. I spend more time in this app than any other app, including my web browser.

If you are using a tablet then I might consider keeping your options more open.

Tapatalk is a nice utilitarian way of browsing forums on a mobile device.  It's great when it's working, but it crashes ALL THE TIME on my iPad.

Well I mainly use safari/chrome on my wife's iPad1, and those also crash all the time.

I just use chrome on my touchpad. I sometimes need to zoom before my stubby fingers can hit the right link, but other than that, i don't see the need for an app on a tablet the size of mine.
