MMP/Oscar Controls in Canada praise...

Hi all,

I just thought I'd mention that I purchased a Oscar spinner and knob from Zakk over at MMP.  There were a few bumps along the way (postal service deciding my apartment building didn't exist, etc.) but Zakk was very professional and quick to respond to emails.

I'd recommend both the spinners and the service to any Canadian out there.

I have to say that I LOVE that this service is available. Canada Customs bends you over and takes your temperature every time you buy something from the States.
Unfortunately, I bought my spinner JUST before this service was available, although you still may get an order from me for a joystick mounting plate. (for my reunion 4-way)

Hey Zakk, any chance you'd offer any of your trackball mounting plates for sale? Would they be any cheaper than the Happs version? How do you recess the bolt heads so they don't show through the overlay? Questions, questions.

Hey Zakk, any chance you'd offer any of your trackball mounting plates for sale? Would they be any cheaper than the Happs version? How do you recess the bolt heads so they don't show through the overlay? Questions, questions.  

The mounting plates are just bulk steel that I drill a hole in  I screw them to the panel, then use the carriage bolts through the top plexi to make the whole thing more solid.  Sorry, don't think I'll offer that crummy setup for sale any time soon

I knew you made them up that way, it's just a pain for me to go to the Metal Supermarket, buy the steel, buy metal hole saw of the proper diameter.... I don't have a metal saw to cut it square either although I think the Metal Supermarket would do that for you. You may think it's a crummy setup but it does the trick and you wouldn't know any different after an overlay is on it. It's a perfect solution in my opinion.

Well to be honest I cheat.  I can never get the 3" hole saw to cut through the steel even with my drill press.  I use the hole saw to mark out the outline, then use a dremel cutting disc to cout the hole.  Then smooth it up with a grinding bit.  I have to do another one pretty soon, so I'll see if I have extra material left over, and I'll give it to you for cost of postage if I do

You're in London aren't you? I'd even swing by to pick it up. London is my old stomping ground, my mom lives near Strathroy so I'm through there quite often.

If you have a chunk left over, that would be great if not, no worries either. Thanks for the possibility though.
