original bubble bobble cabinet
« on: October 20, 2003, 02:05:37 pm »
Does anybody in southwestern ontario know of any bubble bobble cabinets (working or not) that are for sale, this is my favorite game and am looking to add it to my collection.

Thanks

Might be kinda hard I have never seen a original cab. All the ones I have seen were converted cabinets.

I don't think there is any such thing as an "original" Bubble Bobble cab but I'm sure PaigeOliver will be along to correct me shortly, lol.

You are correct, it is a conversion-only game.

My cabinet of choice for it would be one of the Taito cabinets that have the stripes on the side and say "Taito", since it is a Taito game.

No, like this one here.

The only difference being that Bubble Bobble would not have likely ended up in the dedicated Double Dragon style cabinet, as Double Dragon came out after Bubble Bobble did.

Of course I always think that ALL conversion-only Taito games should be in those cabinets if at all possible.

That's a dedicated ddragon cabinet?  Looks generic to me :)

Anyway, yeah, that taito cabinet is a nice cabinet.

Thanks for the info, i had no idea that this game was a conversion only.  I guess I'll pick up a board set if I ever run across one

Yes, that is the dedicated Double Dragon cabinet. Most of Taito's dedicated games still came in fairly generic looking cabinets. The only big exception I can think of is Zoo Keeper, which came in the standard early Taito cabinet, but with either 2 color, or full color sideart.

You can still identify the converted Taito cabinets by the color scheme though. They used a unique one for each game, although every once in a while you will find an original dedicated one that is the "wrong" color.
