  • I want my own arcade controls!
    • My MAME Project
Well it has been a LONG road but I have finally reached the destination!!

I've removed the pix and replaced them with a link to my arcade photo album to make it easier on the lower bandwidth users.

Man, resize those images!  Not so much the bandwidth, but it throws the page completely off.

Put height=xxx width=xxx (make the xxx numbers) in the img tag to resize.

Otherwise...nicely done!

Cool looking cabinet, can we get a couple of shots from the side?  It looks like an awesome design. Love the control panel for a 4 player one it looks really clean.

Hee hee, a $400 control panel and what (looks like) a brand new $100+ coin door on a cabinet with a $40 monitor.   :'(

Great Job!
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers what the universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

your CP overlay looks great.  I'm trying to design something similar.  Do you have a link to the CP that originally inspired you?

thanks,

Ryan

Wow that turned out great!  Yep I did the CP overlay - like he said it's inspired from motorfish's, which is simply an excellent overlay.  djsting was a great guy to work with :)  I'm really glad it printed well and looks like the controls match up perfectly.  Very clean cab - it's not overpowering yet it's 4 players with a trackball/spiner.   Great layout of controls and very nice cab overall  :D

Ack, just found it, sorry...you both should change your profile and include your site in there.  The cabs look great!

Now you have seen all the pix I wanted to give a little additional explaination as to what all it does.

I of course have MAME installed and running, but I have also put on Daphine and have all the laser disc games like Dragon's Lair!

In addition to this the computer is wired to my video distribution system so we can not only watch cable TV on it but also our DVD player and our TiVo which are both in the living room (across the house).

To top off the high tech part of this it is part of our home network which means it not only has access to the web but also to our fileserver which houses our entire MP3 collection (every piece of music we own has been ripped to MP3) which is massive since I used to DJ and I'm using eJukebox as the frontend for that.

Truely an entertainment center!

You did a great job!

I am working on one based off of the same cabinet (KOAM) and a 25" monitor fits perfectly.  I dig the CP, it's giving me some idead on how I'll likely proceed with mine. With any luck mine will be ready to announce in the next 2 weeks.

That little 17" monitor was replaced with a 21" several months ago and it looks sooo much better!!

I would love to go larger but that's the bigest that will fit.

Well it has been a LONG road but I have finally reached the destination!!  My MAME cabinet is done and a HUGE hit with my nephews!  I have included some pix of the completed project for all to see.

Credits:

First let me say thank you to everyone here for being so helpful and easy to work with.

Second, many people's designs have been used to help me with mine, I can't even think of who they all were.

As for the artwork, mine is patterned after motorfish's but is still completely custom.

Which brings me to the person who did the artwork for me...I can not thank you enough Frostillicus for the wonderful job you did and being so willing to take my money and so incredibly easy to work with!! :)  Without you and the artwork this would not be the same project!

Now on to what you all want...THE PIX!!!

That's only a 17" monitor in there for now as I can not afford a larger one just yet, but there will be a bigger one put in at a later time.

This is a GREAT shot of the artwork!! Yes this is modeled after someonelse's design but it was completely custom made for me.

This is a picture with the control panel open (it's hinged) which gives a great view of all the controls.

Nice machine you've got there. :)
