Customizing Coin Reject Buttons
« on: October 30, 2012, 01:37:43 am »
I want Purple coin reject buttons for my cabinet but nobody makes them!! Anybody have any ideas about how to accomplish this?

Red button with a blue LED behind it? Blue button with a red LED behind it? I don't have either of these to test though. Does anyone make clear reject buttons? I haven't seen any.

Any ideas???

Here are a few threads that might get you what you're after.

dyeing slikstik translucent balltops - This thread is about dying plastic.

Pink Coin Inserts? (Coin Reject Buttons) - This post talks about using translucent vinyl.

You may need to look into getting some clear buttons casted due to the filter effect mentioned in this post.

I think blue rejects with red LEDs would give you a good effect. Depending on what brand of coin door you have, you may need to go with red rejects and blue LEDs. I have blue rejects but I had to get a happ coin door (ended up getting for free) because only red rejects were available for my coin control brand coin doors.
I think the red reject with blue led effect can best be seen on hotrods when guys would put a blue bulb in the brake lights behind red lenses

Are you looking for something like our NovaGemCDR buttons, or actual coin reject plastics for an existing coin door?  If the former, I can help.

If the latter, I think you will not have much luck with mixing filters and light sources.  They will have very high probability of not doing what you desire.  The plastic filters light at specific frequencies, allowing certain frequencies to pass, while blocking others.  Red will block frequencies which aren't red, blue blocks those which aren't blue, etc...  You really want a clear or white one.

Thanks for the advice! Anyone know of anywhere to get clear or white reject buttons? I haven't seen them anywhere. I'm thinking if I can't find clear or white, I may cut my own plates to look like buttons out of plexi, then use purple theatrical gels. I don't need functioning reject buttons, just need them to look like reject buttons.
