SOLVED: Kick not working in MAME 0147u1
« on: October 29, 2012, 09:20:36 am »
Building a new cabinet and working on my MAME configuration.  I wanted to use the most recent version so originally I compiled 0147 and when I went to do some testing I was having problems with all the Midway games.  This was a problem that everyone was having I found out so I waited for the update. Once the update came out I downloaded the 0147u1.diff and recompiled my MAME.  I went in tried the Midway games and I was still having an issue.  The error I got was:

"The selected game is missing one or more required ROM or CHD images.  Please select a different game.  Press any key to continue".

I realized that they need the Namco bios/roms, so I added them in.  Now all of the Midway games seem to work (Dig Dug, Galaga, Pacman, Ms. Pacman, etc) except for Kick.  I am still getting the same error when I launch Kick.  I have tried the kick.zip and the kickc.zip and I get the same error as above.  Is there a additional bios/rom that is needed or is there a parent ROM (Pacman needs Puckman) or is still broken in the current version.

If anyone has any ideas or a solution please let me know.  If it is still broken, is there a place to let the MAME dev's know?

Thanks

Could be that your Rom for Kick is outdated. Does it give you the exact same error as before or a list of missing Rom elements?

I'd try finding an updated Rom for Kick. :)

Romcenter has helped me a ton with versioning issues.  I suggest that you look into it. Alternatively  run mame from command line and it will tell you the missing rom.

Thanks for the info about running MAME from the dos prompt. I didn't know it would display the missing rom.

As it turned out it was missing 82s123.12d which I found is in midisso.zip. I just copied it over from my ROMs drive and it works fine now.

Thanks

I am still having trouble with the Kick rom. I have mameplus.  I actually downloaded the  midisso.zip. file and placed it in the rom folder and also tried the general mame folder and still not working, any help, Thanks
