Taito Space Invaders II fault.
« on: October 27, 2012, 08:58:23 am »
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could identify the problem I have with my Space Invaders please?

It has lines across the screen during play only. The lines appear physical within the game.

It has been in the family since new and I would really appreciate advice.

Thank you.

I had a friend with a Space Invaders (not II) with a similar problem.  We separated the two boards from each other, cleaned the edge connector with some alcohol and put it back together.  That took care of the problem.  Over time the two boards had separated from each other a bit and weren't making a good connection.  If your board is the same 2 piece 'L' configuration you might give it a try.

Looking online it appears the color versions may be two boards on top of each other connected with ribbon cables.  In that case you might try to carefully remove and reattach the cables.

You are correct about the 2 boards being above each other and connected by ribbon cables.
I just gave them a little jiggle and the fault has improved slightly.

You are certainly on to something.

Thank you Paladin.
