I'm going to inspect a World Class Bowling cabinet (fully working) this weekend. I'm curious if this would make a good candidate for a Mame conversion. Here is the klov.com link : http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=10471

Does anybody know what kind of monitor is in this and if it's 25" or 27"? Since this game is from 97' would it be safe to assume it will need a cap kit? And, if a capt kit is needed, will I have to discharge the monitor to do this? I'm scared to death of mucking around with a monitor to be honest. Thanks in advance.

A WCB could be 19" (if a conversion) 25" or 27".

Discharging a monitor is 2 orders of magnitude easier than doing a cap kit. A cap kit on a recent wells gardner monitor like that take me about 45 minutes (figure 2 hours for your first). The discharge takes about 5 seconds. You don't need to assume it needs one, it may not.

If it is a dedicated unit then yes it is a pretty good cabinet for conversion, it will have a centered trackball and the panel is just big enough to add a Streetfighter layout to that. I just sold one of them a couple days ago (well it was a Shuffleshot, but that is the same machine with different software).
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

hi
25" monitior
yes u need 2 kit's
1=cap
1=vert ic kit
please read ken layton's note's on this matter
it should be a NON smps style
meaning u will require a isolation transformer
to discharge the tube is easy
keep an eye on the yoke,as these unit's tend to have a failing yoke problem
:vert size:..if u fear it then leave it alone let a shop do it
just give them the part's and there marching order's

Shipping something from the U.S. to Canada for repair/exchange?  Please use USPS to avoid (additional?/excessive?) shipping charges.  PM me if you have any questions.

Really, I just sold  an Incredible Technologies cabinet from 1997, and it was a 27" and had a non-iso monitor with no iso in the cabinet at all, and no empty holes where it could have once been.

Just food for though on this point. I picked up a pga tour a little while back and the control panel has a much higher slope then my control panels with joystick and buttons (to minimize the amount of times you smash your hand off the glass when using the trackball is my guess). Assuming this cabinet is similar you may want to consider lessening the slope somehow to make it more confortable while you use the joystick and buttons which will be the majority of games.

Please forgive me for necrobumping, but this specific game: is it 15khz or 31khz for the monitor?

And am I reading it correctly...that 25" monitors from the late 90s are less desirable than older 25" monitors? I would have figured that newer=better. What is the reason for this opinion?

Thank you!  ;D

If they're medium resolution 25", then you can only use them with certain games.

Thanks; I guess that is kind of what I was wondering. Is World Class Bowling a medium-res game?

According to KLOV, it's standard. So you're in luck.

Thanks! For some reason I did not see it mentioned anywhere on KLOV that it was 15khz.

Is it true that Wells Gardners from the late 90s have huge issues?

That's what I've heard. I've dealt with three 25" monitors from that era, and only one NEEDED a cap kit. The other two have been fine.

I'll have to see if it is the same monitor I picked up two days ago. It was from a World Class Bowling. It was labeled as 31" but I am really not sure. It's at least a 27".  Been so busy all I has time to do was to figure out it was a Wells Gardner U3000 chassis. I believe it was the U5000 and the K8000 that were the piles of crap, IIRC.

Researched mine, sorry I doubt it is from a world class bowling as as advertised, at least a dedicated. I won't be able to check for you.  :( according to WG, mine is most likely pulled from a Umk3 showcase cab, which I never have seen before. My monitor couldn't even fit into my incredible technologies cab if I tried. My I.T. cab is from 07, so I doubt that monitor would be a match for yours either.

If you can pull the number off your monitor, we can help check the specs.
