Ipac 2 Problem with Player 3 and Player 4 (ports)
« on: October 09, 2012, 09:08:27 pm »
I'm using an Ipac2 in my 3 way cocktail build and am still having problems with a few ports on player 3 and 4 that do not work.  They did not work when I first wired the cab two weeks ago,, but then started working and I buttoned up the cocktail.  Then out of the blue this week I noticed that several buttons on player 3 and 4 were not working.  After pulling the cocktail apart (pain in the >>) and tracing the wires I realized that  known good buttons would not work in the same player 3, 4 slots, but work fine in player 1/2.  I really don't want to have to replace and re-wire a new Ipac2 so am posting here to see if anyone else has had this happen and if there is a known fix.  I have restored the Ipac2 to default a few times w/out solving the problem.  I just reached out to Andy, and I'm sure he will take care of me, but I'd like to avoid the re-wire if there is an easy fix.

I bet it's a loose or disconnected ground connection in either player 3's or 4's controls, whichever is wired closest to ground in your daisy chain. You say "several buttons on player 3 and 4" not working, your problem most likely lies with the button right after the last button that works.

Thanks for the suggestion.   I thought the same thing.  After completely rewiring player 3 and 4, with a new set of ground plugs/wires the same #s on 3 and 4 still do not work.

Ex for Player 3 - buttons 1,2,3,4, work - 5,6 don't work, 7 works, 8, 9 don't work.

At the IPAC, swap the wires for P3 buttons 1-4 with buttons 5, 6, 8, & 9. If buttons 1-4 don't work after that, and buttons 5, 6, 8, & 9 do, then it sounds like it might be a problem with the IPAC. If the problem doesn't follow with the change, you have a wiring problem.

Are you sure this is an IPAC2 and not an IPAC4? That's a whole lot of buttons for an IPAC2...

Ipac4. In the scenario below, 1-4 now work... I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the Ipac4.  Hopefully Andy will be able to get one shipped out Tomorrow, so I can get this buttoned up.  I'm trying to finish this up so I can start another 3 way Cocktail.
