When I repaired the wiring in my first vehicle, this is what it had and I absolutely hated it. It serves its purpose but after working with it within the first hour, you'll curse the bastard who invented it.
Fortunately it only took a few minutes to wrap the wires on my PSU.

The one advantage of the spiral wrap is that you only need 2 zip ties per segment, where the split tubing needs them every 4-6 inches.
I can see how using the spiral wrap on a car -- not being able to easily unplug wires, the awkward angles, and space limitations could cause you to

but a PSU is much easier.
